Just kidding, it's me! My name is Makayla, and I write under the pen name Drew Concord. I grew up in San Jose, California, alongside an amazing sister with incredibly supportive parents. I learned to look up at the stars from my dad, to love the Earth from my mom, and to find joy in creativity and learning from my sister. I went to UC Davis as an undergrad to pursue a career as a veterinarian, but walked out with my heart set on becoming an astrobiologist. From there, I completed a Master's degree at MIT in Earth and Planetary Sciences, and I am currently racing to finish my PhD in Geobiology at Caltech. While I'm not sure what exact career(s) awaits me in the future, I will keep devoting time to a passion I've been exploring here: embedding science, art, innovation, and wonder into stories that examine the fibers of humanity. I will continue to draw on my own experiences and ideas for what could be, and I know that I will always be surprised and inspired when other people share theirs with me.
